Overall, this looks like a decent dolly and if folds down small enough. It even comes with a carry bag to make it easier to tote in with all your gear. For the price it makes a great POTENTIAL solution... Why potential?
Well, with the unit I received, the brakes were set on each wheel to their maximum force. To add insult to injury, the unit had apparently been sitting on a shelf in this condition for an extended period of time. Upon releasing the brakes, the wheels had a significant flat spot and two dimples where the brake had been applied - defeating the purpose of a dolly to get a smooth moving shot. The flat spots were so bad that even a new Panasonic DSLR with both in-body AND on-lens stabilization couldn't compensate. So I figured the wheels just needed time to 'relax' and reform back to their original round state. I shelved the unit for a couple of weeks & retested it. Still the same. Several more weeks... same. Now I was approaching my return window and unfortunately had to travel, so ultimately I missed the return window.
OK, I thought, I'll shelve the unit in a hot clime and see if that works... No?, How about a heat shrink gun set on Low and held a nice distance to avoid damage... Nope. I have now had the unit going on 5 months and the wheels are just as bouncy/flat as ever. The fact that the heat gun wouldn't get them to reshape was the final indicator for me that they are never going to do so.
So, the unit is now in use but only under a tripod that allows the camera to be rolled/moved easily when it's NOT shooting - as attempts to record while shooting are far from smooth. And it's not even a heavy rig that needs a dolly to move it... basically I put it to use just to keep it/my $ from being completely wasted.
I'd love to recommend this product but based on my experience, I cannot. One would think that the Mfg would have more sense that to set the brakes at all for shipping, as the unit is in a bag and a box - not rolling anywhere; much less set them to vice-grip "Hulk" strength.
I have a lot of Neewer gear but have not contacted them directly about this issue. Perhaps once I have, I can update this review and the rating.
TRUE REVIEW: Uncompensated and actual user.
At $36.99, the price seems fair - 5 stars if the price was $25. I was wondering if I should give it a 3-star. The dolly is fairly strong but not for heavy equipment. This could have been a 5-star if the locking mechanisms were not plastic - metal would really have impressed me. You may have to be a little (just a little) careful with the locking mechanism and it looks like it will last. Contrary to some other comments, the wheels are fine. You can't eliminate bumps if the floor not smooth - simple physics.
BOTTOM LINE: It's worth it if you really need it.
It came earlier than expected.
It also came with a black bag.
The Tripod Dolly is easy to adjust as well.
The reason I gave it a 4 out of 5 is that one of the pegs, which is used on to tighten up the tripod legs is loose because the screw was not long enough to keep it from coming off.
I definitely recommend getting this Tripod Dolly.
Great device ... easy to use. Maneuvers great.
Works great in our studio! Easy to set up and seems perfectly sturdy for our purposes.
